Author Note: Since I am probably the sloppiest guy in the world, promising to come visiting y'all all the time and a lot of other stuff, I thought I had to make it up to you, somehow. Going through my computer the other night, I found this: a parody I wrote about a year or two ago but never quite finished. Half a verse is missing and the words aren't always precisely on the beat, but... My guess: I was very tired and had listened to much to the Eagles.

But if I'm lucky, it might just give somebody in here a little temporary smile.. *g*

So Happy New Year and so:

On a cyberspace highway, surfing most as a test
Looking for the Wheel of Time and some site that suits me the best
Found a promising addy, and I slowly typed it in
Hesitated before clicking it, but then saw it all begin

Sidled into the chatroom - it was an Asylum cell
And I was thinking to myself: “This sure is crazy – but maybe fun as well”
So I wrote my first message and decided thus my way
There were whispers from the Lurking Ones; I thought I heard them say:

Welcome to the site called Page of Legends
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place), such a lovely maze
Plenty of freaks on the site called Page of Legends
Any time of day (any time of day), throwing lives away

Some girls there call themselves “Sedai”, and I soon learned what it meant
They’re holding many Bonds to men, who are “just friends”
They’re living in the Chatroom, most all the time
Some chat out of boredom, some just to be online

So I went to ask a local: “Is here any normal guy?” He said:
“We haven’t had such people here since 1995,”
And still those voices are calling from far away
You go online in the middle of the night, just to hear them say:

Spending their lives on the site called Page of Legends
Solving mysteries (solving mysteries) - post your theories

Last thing I remember, I was trying to disconnect
I knew I had a life to live that I could go back to yet
“Relax,” said the PoL-ers, “It’s addictive, you will see.”
“You can log off any time you like, but you can never leave.”
